Drywall Water Damage, Repair & Replacement in Houston & Surrounding Areas

When drywall is exposed to flooding, it absorbs the water quickly and swells up. Rapidly expanding can result in irreversible damage if not dried promptly - a situation that needs replacing immediately! There is a huge concern with wet drywall that can lead to the growth of mold and mildew, which in turn bring about health issues.

Drywall is a common building material that can be found in both residential and commercial construction. It's also known by other names, such as sheetrock or wallboard among others.

The signs of water damage in your home are often subtle and hard to detect. This could be because drywall, which is used as an internal wall, tends to bulg when absorbing moisture. The damage from a leak in the ceiling may not be visible, but it can cause major problems. A drip or sag on your home's walls mean there is likely water seeping through and onto surfaces below; if you see anything like this then immediate attention must be paid so that these issues don't worsen over time resulting into more extensive damages such as mold growths due to high humidity levels indoors.

Water Damage Restoration

Repair & Replacement

Repairing drywall is only possible in the early stages of water damage. Quickly drying out this material and using fans will speed up the process and prevent mold growth from occurring while you are drying out the affected area!

Excess moisture in your house can cause a number of problems, including hidden damage that might be difficult to identify until it is too late. In this case, replacement rather than repair may be necessary.

Professional restoration experts from Eldridge Restoration will come and take care of replacing any boards affected by mold growth while disinfecting everything around them so no mold spores get introduced into other parts of house.

Some handy people who are looking to save money may decide that they can replace the damaged sheetrock themselves. However, this becomes a health hazard and should not be attempted by anyone other than professionals

Contact Eldridge Restoration for immediate drywall damage repair or replacement. We are conveniently serving homes in and around Houston.

Step-by-Step Tips to Follow before The Replacement Process

Replacement Tips
  • Step 1: Verify the building codes, before starting the replacement project.
  • Step 2: Drywall sheets come in a variety of sizes and categories. Select the appropriate ones for specific areas.
  • Step 3: Use a utility knife to cut straight-line through the damaged drywall.
  • Step 4: Fix the source of the water damage, completely dry out the area, and clean all dust and debris.
  • Step 5: Once the affected area has been removed, check behind if there's any additional damage or mold.
  • Step 6: After the drywall replacement is done, to support and anchor it, a plywood board installation might be required.
  • Step 7: Secure all around the corners of the drywall with tape.
  • Step 8: Even out each application of mud or plaster before moving on to the next one. Try applying several layers of plaster.
  • Step 9: The finished area must be sanded to remove any imperfections or sharp edges.
  • Step 10: The repaired area needs to be painted at last to match the color of the adjacent wall.
